Real-time Stacked Area chart Part of FusionWidgets XT
A real-time stacked area chart is used to show cumulative magnitude in real-timedata will be updated automatically at fixed intervals by getting new data from the server, without any page refreshes. Data values are plotted as data points that are then connected using line segments. The area between the line segments and the axes/edges of other charts is filled with color, which is used to showcase the magnitude. An icon legend is rendered at the bottom of the chart to map data plots to their corresponding data categories; the icons can be clicked to show/hide data plots. This chart can be used to compare data like the number of live visitors on two or more websites, to be updated every 5 seconds. Use a real-time stacked area chart when a simple part-to-whole comparison between trends, rather than actual values, is needed.
Best Practices for Real-time Stacked Area Chart :
- Ensure that the data in one frame is enough so that it doesn't affect readability.
- Ensure that the interval between subsequent refreshes is chosen appropriately, based on what data the chart is showcasing.
- Use contrasting colors for data sets for greater clarity.
- Make the chart scale large enough to view group sizes in relation to one another.
